Students currently struggle to find compatible roommates using fragmented
tools - multiple apps, forums, and social media groups.
The search process is time-consuming and unreliable, often resulting in mismatched living situations.
Poor roommate matches can negatively affect students’ academic performance and well-being.
The challenge: build a centralized, student-focused platform that streamlines roommate discovery.
The solution must ensure compatibility through lifestyle and housing preference matching.

I conducted comprehensive user research through student interviews to understand core frustrations with existing roommate-finding methods.
Key Pain Points Identified:
Scattered Information: Using multiple platforms creates confusion and missed connections.
Lack of Compatibility Filtering: No systematic way to match based on lifestyle preferences.
Safety Concerns: Limited verification and screening of potential roommates.

After setup, users enter the main browsing screen, where potential matches appear one by one with key profile details.
Swipe Interaction
Swipe Right → shows interest in connecting.
Swipe Left → skips and moves to the next profile.
This interaction is quick and intuitive, allowing users to focus on finding genuine matches.
Match Confirmation
When both users swipe right, a “Matched” pop-up appears, confirming mutual interest and prompting them to start a conversation.
Chat Screen
The user is taken to the chat area, which is divided into two sections:
New Matches - displayed at the top, encouraging users to start new conversations.
Active Chats - ongoing conversations listed below for easy continuation.
Ongoing Interaction
Users can freely switch between discovering new profiles and chatting with matches, creating a continuous and engaging flow between exploration and connection.
